WARDED PRIVATE
These peculiar happenings as of late have got me worried. What is behind all these curious malfunctions in protective wards? I could hardly believe there were security oversights at the quidditch pitch but now at the Ministry as well? It is surprising to say the least and very troubling. Lucius and I attend those matches frequently and he is at the Ministry every single day - as are a number of my relatives. Perhaps not in the common cafeteria where the squalid masses are allowed to gather. Just thinking of how unsanitary it is to eat there has got me feeling a little faint. Lucius has the sense to dine out or order catered lunches to this office, unlike that Burke girl. I haven't the foggiest idea why she chooses to eat there but I will remember to avoid her at future soirees.
I digress. To think they are working in an unstable environment is startling; a splash of pudding to the face is not difficult to remedy but I think many would agree when I say that it was pure luck the incident was so innocent. I am beginning to question the rationale in keeping a vault at Gringotts. I cannot imagine an establishment run by goblins to be safer than one held by wizards. I will remember to discuss this matter of moving our personal assets elsewhere with Lucius tonight and if he considers the idea sound, I will suggest the same to my family. I will also beg of him to fortify some of the more complex, longstanding protective charms on our home. I have taken it upon myself already to reinforce security around the house but there are just some things I do not want to tinker with for fear of making it worse. This has been a Malfoy residence for generations and as such, Lucius is better suited to look into these things.
On a more intimate note, these abnormalities have given rise to some personal insecurities. What if the wards on our home were to fall and allow intruders onto the grounds? I question my preparedness in dealing with such a scenario were Lucius away from the home at the time. I imagine if we were wittingly targeted that would be precisely the case. And what if this were to happen once we've welcomed a child? It is time I do something about my deficiencies and the idea I've got in mind might be a bit unsavoury but altogether necessary. Discretion is of the utmost importance as I imagine even mother might have something to say against this.
I am going to seek defense training from Bellatrix. I trust her abilities and I know she would have my best interests at heart. I hope she will find the time in her busy schedule to accommodate my request. I won't mention the idea to Lucius until she has agreed and we have discussed the details; I imagine there will be some boundaries we will have to agree upon. While I naturally wish there was no need for this, I admit that it is very exciting. At Hogwarts, I thoroughly enjoyed any class where wandwork was readily applied and I truly resent the fact that I was not permitted to engage in the activities of the Dueling club during my time there. I am aware this will be far more challenging than a silly Dueling club for young students but I am prepared to undertake this responsibility.

There is something I wish to ask you but it ought to be discussed in person. Following these debacles with security I am loath to trust these devices. Can we meet soon?

My dearest Regulus, why did you let your birthday pass so quietly? Don't you find it worth celebrating? You have many things to be proud of and to look forward to. Even your graduation did not receive much attention and accomplished so much at Hogwarts. You must come for dinner at your earliest convenience.
